Pandemic Gear Sets Pandemic-only gear sets
Each continent gives its own five-piece set when you take it whole, and infecting the whole world gives the Pandemic Crown. These sets are found nowhere else. Pieces are named Crown, Mantle, Lattice, Talons and Lance (capsid, envelope, matrix, tail fibers and spike).
On this page 9 Liberty Strain Old World Plague Silk Road Vector Incense Caravan Rainforest Canopy Cradle Genome Reef Bloom Permafrost Relic Pandemic Crown Legendary set for taking all of North America.
3 pieces: +15% nucleotides 4 pieces: +1 projectile on every shot (40% damage) 5 pieces: +25% damage From the Codex Surface glycoproteins such as flu's hemagglutinin, HIV's gp120 and the coronavirus spike (S) protein that bind a cell's receptors and drive fusion.
Fun fact: Spike proteins are the main target of most antiviral vaccines.
Spike Protein in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of Europe.
3 pieces: Detection rises 25% slower 4 pieces: +10% critical hit chance 5 pieces: +30% damage From the Codex An outer lipid membrane some viruses steal from the host cell as they bud out of it, studded with the virus's own glycoproteins.
Fun fact: Enveloped viruses like flu and HIV are fragile outside the body: soap dissolves their envelope.
Viral Envelope in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of Asia.
3 pieces: Fire 15% faster 4 pieces: Shots fly 30% faster 5 pieces: +1 projectile on every shot (40% damage), +15% damage From the Codex Long, jointed protein fibers on bacteriophages that recognize and grip a host cell's surface before the phage injects its DNA.
Fun fact: Viruses that infect humans don't have tail fibers; in the game they're the virus's legs and boots.
Tail Fibers in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of the Middle East.
3 pieces: Pick up drops from twice as far 4 pieces: Dashes recharge 30% faster 5 pieces: +20% damage, dashes go 25% farther From the Codex A protein layer lining the inside of the envelope (like influenza's M1) that gives the virion its shape and organizes assembly.
Fun fact: Influenza's M1 is one of the most abundant proteins in the virion.
Matrix Protein in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of South America.
3 pieces: +20% max HP 4 pieces: Regenerate 1.5 HP/s 5 pieces: Fire 15% faster, +15% damage From the Codex An outer lipid membrane some viruses steal from the host cell as they bud out of it, studded with the virus's own glycoproteins.
Fun fact: Enveloped viruses like flu and HIV are fragile outside the body: soap dissolves their envelope.
Viral Envelope in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of Africa.
3 pieces: +15% move speed 4 pieces: Each kill heals 2 HP 5 pieces: +30% max HP, +10% damage From the Codex A protein layer lining the inside of the envelope (like influenza's M1) that gives the virion its shape and organizes assembly.
Fun fact: Influenza's M1 is one of the most abundant proteins in the virion.
Matrix Protein in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of Oceania.
3 pieces: Take 10% less damage 4 pieces: Cells that touch you take 30 damage 5 pieces: +2% lifesteal, regenerate 2 HP/s From the Codex Long, jointed protein fibers on bacteriophages that recognize and grip a host cell's surface before the phage injects its DNA.
Fun fact: Viruses that infect humans don't have tail fibers; in the game they're the virus's legs and boots.
Tail Fibers in the Codex Legendary set for taking all of Antarctica.
3 pieces: Cells move 10% slower 4 pieces: Ultimate charges 30% faster 5 pieces: +25% damage, +25% max HP From the Codex Surface glycoproteins such as flu's hemagglutinin, HIV's gp120 and the coronavirus spike (S) protein that bind a cell's receptors and drive fusion.
Fun fact: Spike proteins are the main target of most antiviral vaccines.
Spike Protein in the Codex The Prismatic set for infecting every continent, with +9 RNA strands.
Item level 80 3 pieces: +25% damage, +25% max HP 4 pieces: +1 projectile, fire 20% faster, Detection rises 30% slower 5 pieces: Shots pierce 2 more cells, regenerate 3 HP/s, take 15% less damage, +30% damage From the Codex The protein shell that encloses a virus's genome, built from repeating subunits called capsomeres. Most are icosahedral (20 triangular faces) or helical.
Fun fact: Capsids self-assemble: the proteins snap together on their own, like a puzzle that builds itself.
