Reached Organs

Reached Organs & Virus Adaptations

Your lineage remembers the deepest organ it has reached. Reaching a new organ for the first time opens deeper skill rows, better gear and, for three of the viruses, a permanent adaptation announced as '<VIRUS> ADAPTS'. Adaptations stack and apply in every organ and every Game Mode once reached. Influenza A has none.

The deepest organ reached opens new starting points, skill rows and gear tiers.

  • Start a run in any organ already reached (with Start in deeper areas)
  • Skill tree rows 4–7 need organs 2, 4, 6 and 8
  • Gear drops: Uncommon from organ 2, Rare from 3, Epic from 5, Legendary from 6, Mythic from 7, Prismatic from 8
  • Combining gear can make one tier above what drops yet

Beginning a run in an organ you've already reached.

Fun fact: Starting deeper is faster, but you miss the earlier organs' loot and traits.

Starting Deeper in the Codex

Captured cells hit 25% harder and take 20% less damage.

From the Codex

A fictional retrovirus inspired by HIV: it infects the immune system's own CD4 T cells and macrophages and slowly wears it down.

Fun fact: HIV copies its RNA genome into DNA and stitches it into the host's chromosomes, so infected cells carry it for life.

Retrovirus in the Codex

Captured cells +10% damage and +15% health; every cell your shots kill adds a kamikaze.

  • The kamikaze store holds up to 5

Bleeds, Hemorrhage and Viral Hemorrhage hit 80% harder.

From the Codex

A fictional filovirus inspired by Ebola: a long thread-like virion, often curled into a 'shepherd's crook'. Real filoviruses cause fever, bleeding and organ failure; some Ebola outbreaks have killed up to 90% of those infected.

Fun fact: Ebola was discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the DR Congo. The 2014–16 West Africa epidemic infected over 28,000 people.

Filovirus in the Codex

Bleeds, Hemorrhage and Viral Hemorrhage hit 50% harder, and bleeding cells deal 35% less damage.

Filovirus in the Codex

Infection, spike volleys, outbreaks and the ultimate hit 80% harder.

From the Codex

A fictional virus crowned with a halo of spike proteins that bind receptors on cells in the airways. It spreads before symptoms show, or with none at all.

Fun fact: Real viruses with a crown of spikes are called coronaviruses, from the Latin for crown; the 2003 SARS outbreak was caused by one.

Halovirus in the Codex

Spike volleys +15% damage; the Fury variant gives +65% damage instead of +60%.
