Wiki Viruses Organ Milestones Adapting to the host
Organ Milestones The first time your lineage reaches certain organs in Infect Game Mode, some viruses adapt for good. A banner announces "<VIRUS> ADAPTS". The bonus then applies in every organ and every game mode, and the bonuses multiply together. Influenza A has no milestones.
On this page 12 How milestones work Retrovirus: Lymph Node Retrovirus: Gut Retrovirus: Liver Retrovirus: Brain Filovirus: Lungs Filovirus: Bloodstream Filovirus: Gut Halovirus: Lymph Node Halovirus: Gut Halovirus: Bone Marrow Halovirus: Brain Milestones count from the deepest organ your whole lineage has reached in Infect Game Mode, whichever virus got there.
They switch on mid-run the moment you first arrive Pandemic and Endless Game Mode can drop you into deep organs, but only Infect Game Mode unlocks new milestones Organ order: 1 Nasal Passage, 2 Lungs, 3 Bloodstream, 4 Lymph Node, 5 Gut, 6 Liver, 7 Bone Marrow, 8 BrainCaptured cells hit 25% harder and are 25% tougher.
Ally damage x1.25, ally toughness x1.25 From the Codex A bean-sized checkpoint where immune cells gather. Lymph drains through it, and B and T cells meet the antigens dendritic cells bring in.
Fun fact: You have around 600 lymph nodes; swollen glands during a cold are nodes busy fighting.
Lymph Node in the Codex Captured cells get +10% damage and +15% toughness, and every cell your shots kill adds a kamikaze.
Unlocks the kamikaze store (5) Ally damage x1.1, toughness x1.15 From the Codex The intestines: a lining of finger-like villi covered in mucus, home to trillions of bacteria and about 70% of the body's immune cells.
Fun fact: Spread flat, the small intestine's surface would cover about half a badminton court.
Gut in the Codex Captured cells get +60% damage and toughness, and Latency and Integration Surge hit 80% harder.
Ally damage and toughness x1.6 Latency pulses and Surge damage x1.8 From the Codex The body's chemical factory and filter. Blood from the gut flows through its hexagonal lobules, where resident macrophages catch anything foreign.
Fun fact: The liver can regrow from as little as a quarter of its original size.
Liver in the Codex Captured cells double their damage and toughness, and Latency and Integration Surge hit 120% harder.
Ally damage and toughness x2 Latency and Surge x2.2 (about x4 with the Liver bonus) All four bonuses together: allies deal about 4.4x damage and are about 4.6x tougherFrom the Codex Protected by the blood-brain barrier, the brain has its own immune system run mostly by microglia and astrocytes.
Fun fact: The brain has around 86 billion neurons and roughly as many glial cells supporting them.
Brain in the Codex Bleeds, Hemorrhage and Viral Hemorrhage hit 80% harder.
Every Filovirus ability x1.8 From the Codex The organs of breathing, where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide leaves it.
Fun fact: Spread flat, the surface of the lungs' air sacs would cover roughly half a tennis court.
Lungs in the Codex Bleeds, Hemorrhage and Viral Hemorrhage hit another 50% harder, and any bleeding cell deals 35% less damage.
Ability damage x1.5 (x2.7 together with the Lungs bonus) Every cell you're bleeding is weakened, not only those hit by Hemorrhage From the Codex The network of vessels carrying about 5 litres of blood around the body every minute, filled with red cells, platelets and immune cells.
Fun fact: Laid end to end, your blood vessels would stretch around 100,000 km, more than twice around the Earth.
Bloodstream in the Codex Bleeding gets 10% stronger, and Hemorrhage weakens cells 5% more.
All bleeds x1.1 Cells Hemorrhage bleeds deal 45% less damage instead of 40% From the Codex The intestines: a lining of finger-like villi covered in mucus, home to trillions of bacteria and about 70% of the body's immune cells.
Fun fact: Spread flat, the small intestine's surface would cover about half a badminton court.
Gut in the Codex Infection, spike volleys, outbreaks and the ultimate hit 80% harder.
Every Halovirus ability x1.8 From the Codex A bean-sized checkpoint where immune cells gather. Lymph drains through it, and B and T cells meet the antigens dendritic cells bring in.
Fun fact: You have around 600 lymph nodes; swollen glands during a cold are nodes busy fighting.
Lymph Node in the Codex Spike volleys deal 15% more, and the Fury surge gives +65% damage.
Volley damage x1.15 Fury surge goes from +60% to +65% From the Codex The intestines: a lining of finger-like villi covered in mucus, home to trillions of bacteria and about 70% of the body's immune cells.
Fun fact: Spread flat, the small intestine's surface would cover about half a badminton court.
Gut in the Codex Infection, spike volleys, outbreaks and the ultimate hit 60% harder.
Every Halovirus ability x1.6 From the Codex Soft tissue inside bones where every blood cell is made: hundreds of billions a day, from a small pool of stem cells.
Fun fact: Your marrow makes about 2 million new red blood cells every second.
Bone Marrow in the Codex Infection, spike volleys, outbreaks and the ultimate hit 90% harder.
Every Halovirus ability x1.9 With the Lymph Node and Bone Marrow bonuses: about 5.5x in total From the Codex Protected by the blood-brain barrier, the brain has its own immune system run mostly by microglia and astrocytes.
Fun fact: The brain has around 86 billion neurons and roughly as many glial cells supporting them.
